Biography

Konstantina Thanopoulou is a Greek Soprano, with a passion for performing Opera, Art Song and Oratorio, from Baroque until Romanticism and Contemporary music.

Her love for music and singing began early in her life, as she started having piano lessons from the age of 6 and taking part in children’s choirs a bit later. Although music was always an important part of her life, she studied Biology and completed a Master’s Degree in Education, in the University of Athens. At the same time, she was studying classical singing and opera performance in the National Conservatory of Athens. She completed her Diploma in Vocal Studies, graded Excellent and 1st prize under Greek soprano Myrsini Margariti.

During her studies she performed in productions as Drusilla in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Polly in Die Dreigroschenoper and as a soloist for many years in the Historic Choir of Nikaia, with appearances all over Greece.

Konstantina currently resides in Belgium after following a Master in Vocal Performance in the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp. She has performed the role of Cis in The Conservatory’s production Albert Herring, by Benjamin Britten under the scenical direction of Benoît De Leersnyder and musical direction of Michiel Delange. Later she also performed the role of Phani in Les Indes Galantes by Jean -Philippe Rameau under the musical direction of Korneel Bernolet and the scenical direction of Nathalie van Parys.

She appears in concerts as part of the Duo Thanopoulou Taraban, with repertoire from Greek, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Spanish, Russian and French composers. She is a Young Artist of the Camerata Bardi International and she is performing Giannetta in Elisir d’Amore by Donizetti, under the baton of Myron Michailidis and scenical direction of Stefanos Koroneos.
